I'm back! Just in time to give an update on the Gentlemen
Yes, the Braddock Gentlemen just finished week 6 with a hard-fought 29-17 victory over the Carolina Panthers to move to 5-1. However, no attention was really given to this game. Or any of the ones before it, even the narrow 30-23 loss to the Seahawks in the previous week on a Deion Branch tackle-breaking catch and run to the end zone on the last play of the game. Not sure why. You'd think the world would pay more attention to the Gentlemen, especially as they continually overcome the odds and win games that they should have no chance in on paper. Coming off of an 0-16 season and playing in a town of less than 2,000 will do that, I guess.
Number one overall pick some guy, who's name was changed to Preston Buttocks, has been doing an incredible job at QB and leads the NFL with a QB rating over 130. Many of these fine passes have been completed to rookie WR Mister Touchdowns, who was drafted out of Miami (OH) with the 16th overall pick. However, obtaining the extra first rounder cost the Gentlemen their second and third round pick apparently (really, why the fuck was the computer wheeling and dealing with my picks when I simulated the first season???) and really hurt their attempts to build some depth. The only other draft pick contributing was 6th round RB who's name I forget and 5th round LB Donny Dickmilk, who both suck and are only playing because they are fast. Not like the Gentlemen run anyway behind the arm of Buttocks and the WR trio of Touchdowns and free agents Santana Moss and Lee Evans, the latter of whom was wooed to Braddock by a one-year $13 million contract. Still, the lack of talent along the offensive line and on the entire defense may end up doing this team in in the end. But hey, that's why they play (and sometimes Supersim) the games.
